Reset Day (No. 1)

Hello there,

since the weather forecast wasn't too great we decided against renting another scooter and against driving to Taroko Gorge again.
Also we were pretty tired from all the walking and exploring this past week.

So what we did was walk around Hualien (with plenty of stops in Cafes, Restaurants, benches, ...).

One thing about Hualien that we noticed right away when we arrived is that there seems to be a military base around here somewhere, since we heard and saw several helicopters and jets. Today I was awoken by several jets flying over Hualien. But it's not that they are constantly flying. Just once in a while.

Our first stop was A-Zone, a creative park in some old factory buildings, were there are now some exhibition halls, shops and restaurants. However many of the buildings were closed today, so we did not linger for too long.

After drinking some tea and eating some very delicious salad at Black Road restaurant we went to Hualien Railway culture park.

From there we went to see Nanbin park. However, the view towards the sea there was blocked by some construction walls which was a pity...

We saw several shop owners burning ghost money or joss paper in front of their shops we are not really sure why

We saw many street dogs in Hualien. None of them seemed violent or even interested in humans

The weather was getting worse at this point so we went inside a mall to rest there for a bit before eating our dinner at a small Japanese restaurant.

That concludes our first "reset day". :) (We still managed to walk 20000 steps according to my Garmin watch...)

See you tomorrow (where will be riding the train to Kaohsiung for almost 6 hours.)

Pia
